About GMAT40

We teach the money lessons most people had to learn the hard way.

GMAT40 is an Ottawa organization working in training, human capital development, research, innovation and publishing. Our core mission is to help bridge the financial-literacy gap in Canada.

Why we exist

The gap is real, and it is fixable.

People arrive in Canada with degrees, trades and years of work experience, then find that nobody explains how credit scores, tax slips or registered accounts work here. Students graduate without a budget. Professionals leave employer matching on the table. Pre-retirees guess at when to start their pensions.

None of this is about intelligence. It is about information that was never shared in plain words. That is the work we do.

Who we work with

Built for people who were never taught this.

Most of the people in our sessions do not have a finance background. That is the point. We start from where you are.

What we do

Five areas of work.

Training

Workshops and courses on banking, credit, tax, saving, investing and retirement for individuals and groups.

Human capital development

Programs that help staff, students and community members grow their financial confidence and personal skills.

Research

Studies on where financial knowledge is missing and which teaching methods change behaviour.

Innovation

New tools, worksheets and short-form video that make complex ideas easy to follow.

Publishing

Guides, workbooks and research briefs written for readers with no finance background.

How we teach

Three rules we keep.

Plain words first

If a term needs a definition, we give it. If it does not, we leave it out.

Canadian examples

We use real Canadian documents and accounts, so what you learn applies the next day.

Action at the end

Knowledge only counts once it is used. Every session closes with a written next step.

What we stand for

Great Minds! Great People!

Our tagline is a belief about the people we serve. They are capable. They need clear information and someone to walk through it with them.
